There are dozens of misconceptions about HUD/Manufactured Housing and Modular Homes and for all the talk and misunderstandings it is actually quite simple.  The only part of your home that makes it a HUD/Manufactured or a Modular is the building code to which it is constructed.  There is nothing cosmetic that determines the differerence;  not sheetrock, cabinets, floor finish, counter tops, roof pitches, etc.  It is simply the building code.  Manufactured homes are built to HUD code and Modular homes are built to local and state building codes just as a site or “stick built” house would be built.
